Moscow’s Domodedovo owner to remain under house arrest till Jul 28
MOSCOW, May 18 (PRIME) -- The beneficiary owner of Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport Dmitry Kamenshchik, suspected of inaction which facilitated a 2011 terrorist attack, will remain under house arrest at least until July 28, the Moscow City Court ruled on Wednesday.
The court rejected petitions by lawyers and claims by prosecutors supported by representatives of victims, on easing of the restrictive measures against Kamenshchik.
On Tuesday, the businessman announced a program of loss compensation to victims of the attack through what he called a charity fund. He pled not guilty.
Kamenshchik was put under house arrest on February 19 within the framework of a new criminal case to punish people whose inaction could have caused an explosion in Domodedovo in 2011. An older case which followed the explosion was closed in late 2015 as no evidence of Domodedovo executives’ guilt and uncertainty about the real beneficiaries of the airport due to its comprehensive ownership structure.
According to business daily Kommersant, about 40 victims of the terrorist attack claimed 50–700 million ruble losses.
